Bravo Franco's opened its doors on October 23, 1997. In the months that followed, a restaurant
review was written about them and was featured in their local paper, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Restaurant critic Woodene Merriman gave a favorable review and made the following comments....
"Franco fans from Fox Chapel recognize the menu they know and love...but then the server recites
the day's specials. Intriguing and different, they're all Peter Lauterbach creations."
"I've had pleasant experiences at both lunch and dinner at the new Bravo Franco... I stopped
in one non-show night and my! What attention you get from the server, the maitre'd,
and the gawkers outside."
"The tiramisu is outstanding, of course. It's Franco's and he's known for it. In the evening,
we had an interesting 'fruits of the forest' dessert, imported frozen from Italy. It had berries
on top, Italian cream inside, a biscuit-like base, and calories everywhere."
"...The new Bravo Franco is a welcome
addition to the Cultural District."
